Jade
Now you are probably thinking - thats not a bengal! and you would be quite correct.
Jade is our blue Persian and the first cat I ever owned, she is the oldest member of our family and will be 15 this year - time really does fly.
Jade came to us at 15 weeks old, she had been bought by a family direct from the breeder, however their youngest child had developed an allergy to her long fur and they were unable to keep her. So after seeing an advert for her in the local free pages I went to see her (money in hand) and she came home to live with me and my parents.
When the time came for me to fly the nest I couldnt bring to myself to take Jade with me - my dad had passed away in 1999 and Jade provided lovely company for my mom.
Within that time we also had two other cats, first was Amber - a rescue tortie who came from the cats protection league, the story is actually one of upset for myself as Amber had cat flu and I was not told or aware that she could have passed this on to Jade - I was told she was 'curred' of it. Of course she wasnt and passed the virus to jade - who now has herpes and ulcerations on her eyes to this day, luckily she does not suffer too much from it - but I will never go back to the CPL again or recommend them (sadly) Amber went to live with my brother so we could manage the situation correctly.
Then along came George - a gorgeous green eyed Silver/chinchilla persian....we didnt have the best of luck with George either *sigh* at about 1years of age he suddenly had paralysis on his back legs and started dragging them behind him, unsure about what this was of course we took him to the vets - who told us George had FELV (Leukaemia) and that he needed to be PTS - I absolutely did not agree with doing this and seeked a second opinion. The second vet told us they found no sign of FELV and that it was most likely from a fall and damage to his back, George soon recovered and was back fighting fit again.
Unfortunately at 3years old George was taken from us by an RTA - he was allowed out for extra time one summers evening, but sadly never came home. RIP sweet George x
Jade is the loveliest cat, she was a really active kitten coming alive at 9pm everynight when she would do laps around the lounge up and down the furniture, she is abit quieter these days!
